Dakota and I have been rolling out of bed and taking Shyila for a walk even before we eat breakfast lately.  Eye boogers and all!!! The early morning is blissful in jammies.  Especially when they are mismatched!  Dakota loves to walk Shyila all by herself.  It’s all good and fine until the dog takes off after a squirrel.  We’ve had a few tumbles although Dakota remains faithful – tough and still insists on walking the dog!  I’ve committed myself to bringing my camera everywhere we go because beauty is all over the place!   Here is my favorite morning walk photo for this week’s you capture challenge.

Today Dakota had her very first hair cut.  I had been noticing there there was what looked like a huge nest growing from the back of her head (check out the before picture!!! that is quite the wildness!!!) and thought to myself that we should eventually do something about it.  I thought the first hair cut might be a bit of a struggle so I had never even mentioned it.  This morning when  Dakota  heard news that her little friend Ezra was getting his hair cut today she marvelled at the idea and insisted she would have nothing less than a hair cut for herself. “I get my hair cut!” she kept saying.  This girl knows what she wants!!  I just couldn’t deny her excitement and enthusiasm. 

 

So, our beautiful friend and neighbor Robyn got out her scissors and created a visual masterpiece right here on our front lawn!  Here are the before and during photos – I’ll post some post hair cut photos soon:

We visited Sunflower Farms this past weekend and Dakota got to ride Cookie all by herself!!! Look how proud she is! Sweet little love muffin!  I also love that she is sporting her lovely summer shades.  That’s why I chose this photo for the i heart faces photo challenge this week!  The shades have been an important summer staple.

I absolutely adore the summer.  I can already feel myself holding on to the fading light as the days are noticeably shorter.  I know I’m being dramatic as it’s only August – however I’ve already began to feel a slight chill in the evenings.  These are some of my favorite summer shots.  I just love the glasses that Dakota is sporting.  She refuses to wear a hat but loves those shades.  In the above picture her little friend Ezra has just returned from vacation today!  She was so happy to see him.

This picture was taken at the Boulder Tea House - they hosted a Teddy Bear Tea Party (although I somehow forgot to bring teddy!!!)  We dressed up in our fanciest.  Dakota wore her “pretty dress” – a multicolored tutu that Nana and Papa gave her as a present.  She loved the jam they gave us for our scones.  Yummy!

About a cup and a half of milk

Two teaspoonfulls of nutritional yeast flakes

a frozen Acai packet

handfulls of whatever frozen fruit we have in the freezer (usually blueberry, rasberry or strawberry)

Two teaspoonfulls of nut butter (usually hazelnut or almond)

and some goji berries

Voila – yumminess!
